Process for purifying the exhaust air of vulcanising plants

The exhaust of vulcanising plants is purified by complex processes which still result in an unsatisfactory purification. The novel process is intended to enable the exhaust air of such plants to be released clean into the atmosphere with a justifiable expenditure. The invention comprises cooling the hot exhaust air stream in an absorber constructed as a multichamber scrubber by spraying with cold water so intensively that the oily water-insoluble pollutants condense, arise as concentrates in the treatment of the pollutant-laden scrubbing water of the water circulation, are taken off and are disposed of by combustion. As an essential resulting advantage, a process is available by which the exhaust air of vulcanising plants can be freed from pollutants inexpensively and no pollution of waters occurs. The process is applicable to vulcanising plants of all types.
