A container, especially for a piece of ammunition, has an elongated, essentially cylindrical outer sleeve (1) which is made of plastic and the inner surface of which is conical. In order to achieve, in a simple fashion, uninterrupted longitudinal support of a dimensionally stable cylindrical insertion pipe (8) in the outer sleeve (1), at least three ribs (6) are formed on the inner surface (3) of the outer sleeve (1). The height of the ribs (6) is equal to the amount of taper of the outer sleeve (1) in such a way that a dimensionally stable, cylindrical insertion tube (8), which is especially wound from cardboard is guided along its length and is centred with respect to the outer sleeve (1). <IMAGE>
