PURPOSE:To automatically record the history of the apparatus used for recording on a tape so that the generation management can be realized certainly without burden by recording the apparatus number received through an interface in a user data area together with sound data at the time of dubbing recording. CONSTITUTION:Analog sound signals inputted from a terminal 3 are converted into the digital signals by means of an A/D converter 9 and DAIF signals of AES/EBU standard are inputted from a terminal 4 and subjected to input selection whether the analog input or digital input at a switch 13. At the time of dubbing, the digital input mode is selected. A number peculiar to an apparatus is set at an apparatus ID switch 22 and assigned to a user data register 25 and channel status register 24. Then such history that by which apparatus the inputted data are dubbed and by which apparatus the original data are recorded can be displayed on a display device 30. Thus output of the user data register 25 is correlated with a user ID signal at a user ID generation circuit 26.
