PURPOSE:To decrease the number of transistors existing in a shifter array by inverting each bit of the input/output data on the shifter array and therefore securing the coincidence between the code extension data regardless of the plus or the minus of the data to be shifted. CONSTITUTION:An input inverter 2 inverts each bit of the data to be shifted and inputs these inverted bits to a shifter array 3 based on the contents of the MSB of said data. The shift result of the array 3 is given to an output inverter 4 which transmits the shifted result after inversion based on the contents of the MSB of the data to be shifted. Then an arithmetic shift is carried out together with the code extension regardless of the plus or the minus of the data to be shifted. |
