Spindle drive for a seat of a motor vehicle

A spindle drive serves preferably for the electromotive adjustment of a seat or seat component of a motor vehicle. The spindle drive (10) has a spindle rod (14) which is mounted at its ends (13, 13a) in bearing blocks (12, 12a) and can be rotated by means of a drive (15). A nut (16) runs with a counter-thread section (40) on a thread section (30) of the spindle rod (14). It is non-rotatably arranged and bears an attachment part (17) for the seat. In order to reduce the installation dimensions of the spindle drive (10) in comparison with the maximum axial displacement length and to increase the bearing capacity of the spindle drive (10), the diameter (d1) of the ends (13, 13a) is smaller than the diameter (d3) of the thread section (30). The counter-thread section (40) has in one radial plane of the spindle rod (14) an internal contour which is greater than the external contour of the bearing blocks (12, 12a) (Fig. 4). <IMAGE>
