The assembly 8, which makes it possible to join two girders 7 end to end, comprises a male component 10, a female component 20, and a connection rod 30 passing through bores 12, 22 respectively in these two components, these bores being directed transversely with respect to the axis of the assembly and being aligned when the two components are joined. According to the invention the male component 10 can be engaged practically without play in the female component 20, and each one of the male and female components is provided at its front end with at least one pair of symmetrical facets 15, 24 inclined relative to the transverse plane of the assembly, this pair of facets or these pairs of facets cooperating with pairs of homologous symmetrical facets 14, 25 of the same inclination formed at the rear end of the female or male component, respectively, situated opposite. The invention also proposes a stage fly formed by a plurality of parallel crosspieces connected to each other at their ends by means of perpendicular stanchions, the crosspieces and/or the stanchions each consisting of separated girders 7 joined end to end by assemblies 8 of this type. <IMAGE>
