The present invention relates to an injection unit for a press, of the type comprising an injection barrel 10 defining an internal channel 30 and provided, on the one hand, at a first end, with a main feed orifice 16 via which the product to be moulded is introduced into the channel and, on the other hand, at a second end, with an outlet nozzle 18, and a piston 40 which can move translationally inside the channel, in order to inject the pressurised product into a mould via the outlet nozzle when the piston 40 is moved translationally towards the latter. According to the invention, the internal channel 30 of the barrel 10 possesses, over its entire length, a generally rectangular cross-section having unequal sides. <IMAGE>
