PURPOSE:To obtain a base for the electrostatic recording sheet which has high mechanical strength, is strong to water, is extremely less dimensionally changed by a humidity change and has high whiteness by using a sheet formed by providing a polyolefin resin layer kneaded with a white pigment on one face of base paper and a polyolefin resin subjected to a matting treatment or kneaded with the white pigment on the opposite face thereof. CONSTITUTION:The base paper to be used for the base is particularly preferably the wood free paper produced by a Fourdrinier machine or the roll paper produced by a Yankee machine by using pulp. The polyolefin resin layers kneaded with the white pigment are provided on one or both faces of such base paper. The polyolefin resin is preferably polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene, polypentene, and the copolymers thereof. The content of the white pigment in the polyolefin resin layers is specified within a 5-20wt.% range. The high whiteness is obtd. in such a manner, by which the whiteness of the electrostatic recording sheet formed by providing a conductive layer and dielectric layer successively thereon is enhanced and the sharp color image is obtd. |
