The invention relates to a method for increasing the safety of premises, and to security railings which open and can be removed. A security railing 2 according to the invention comprises an opening frame 3 and metal bars 4. The frame is provided with a lock 7 which can be closed from the inside and from the outside, and with hinges 8 bearing pins 9 which pivot in openings 10 carried by supports 11, which are fixed to the outside of the surround 1 of an entrance door. The security railing can be easily removed or replaced when it is in the opening position. A locking bracket 15 prevents the removal of the security railing when it is locked in the closed position. <IMAGE>
