A wheel-chair possesses a support frame having drive wheels and castor wheels (40, 22) attached thereon, a seat surface (11) and a back rest (13). The drive wheels (40) are mutually operatively coupled via a loop drive (45) to grip wheels (31, 32) fitted on the wheel-chair. The grip wheels are designed as polygonal wheels and are fitted on a bracket (27) adjustably hinged onto the support frame, so that they can be lowered. Getting-in and getting-out are thereby facilitated considerably. The straight sections on the grip wheels prevent rolling away.
