Seamless steel pipes or tubes, with outside dia. exceeding about 500mm, is produced from hollows, produced by continuous casting, which are rolled down in a skew rolling mill with a mandrel under tension to the desired dimensions. The hollow is then radially expanded while maintaining the weight per unit length, using an expansion or sizing mill, but working with a mandrel under tension, so as to obtain the final dimensions of the pipe. |
