PURPOSE:To uniformly increase the sealing strength of a separator by sealing the separator by giving ultrasonic vibration to a toothed wheel to conduct mechanical engagement together with bonding by ultrasonic vibration. CONSTITUTION:In a mechanism by which a separator is sealed after an electrode plate is packed in the separator with equipment, a toothed wheel 2 with which the separator is sealed has a step, and a horn 11 and an oscillator 12 are mounted under the lower toothed wheel 2 so that the tip of the horn 11 is in contact with the step of the toothed wheel 2. When the equipment is operated, ultrasonic vibration is given to the lower toothed wheel with the oscillator 12 to seal the plate side of the separator. The mechanical engagement is conducted together with bonding by ultrasonic vibration. The sealing strength on the plate side of the separator is uniformly increased.
