PURPOSE: To obtain an optimum motion evaluation result by processing a 1st and a 2nd comparison result showing no motion and motion of a pixel in one subarea according to relationship showing whether they are larger or smaller than a 1st and a 2nd threshold number, and making a decision regarding the degree of the motion of the pixel. CONSTITUTION: An image signal value relating to a pixel P1 of a momentary television image TP is compared with an image signal value relating to a corresponding pixel P1' of another television image. Similarly, the image signal value relating to the pixel P1 is compared individually with image signal values of pixels P2', P3', P4', and P5' of the other television image which surround it. As for the same threshold th1 or a different threshold th2, no motion '0' or motion '1' is decided, pixel by pixel. At ths same time, this process is applied to the group to allow one decision showing no motion '0' to bring the same comparison result '0' for the whole group. |
