The subject of the present invention is a flying skid for magnetic heads for reading and writing a magnetic support. This skid has a catamaran-type profile. This profile comprises two reliefs 20, 21 each having a plane lower surface facing the magnetic support. The reliefs have, on the front surface side 24 of the skid, a setback parallel to the lower surface. This setback comprises a lateral wall 40 preferably having the shape of a chevron.
