PURPOSE:To facilitate the judgment of defective echoes, by inputting ultrasonic waves into the specified range of a welded part in the longitudinal direction, classifying the reflected echoes into the clusters of small segments in the longitudinal direction, and comparing the number of the emergence of the identical clusters and a threshold value. CONSTITUTION:The moving piece of a probe scanning device 20 is driven by a pulse motor in a probe scanning device controller 21 based on information from a computer 24. Then, the position information of a probe 4a moving on a material 1 whose flaw is to be checked is inputted into a position reading unit 22 as an output from the head of a digital scale that is attached to the moving piece. Meanwhile, an ultrasonic wave beam is inputted into a welded part 2 from the probe 4a with a flaw detector 23 which is connected to the probe 4a. The echoes that are generated by the beam are detected. The echoe that is larger than a specified threshold value is inputted into the computer 24. The computer 24 classifies the echoes into clusters and judges the defect based on the number of segments expressed by the clusters. |
