Steering lock for motor vehicles having an inclinable steering column, which lock has a locking element for locking the steering spindle of the steering column against rotation, a locking cylinder for actuating the locking element by means of a cam which is connected in a non-rotating manner via a shaft to the cylindrical core of the locking cylinder and interacts with a slide, which can move perpendicularly to the shaft, of the locking element, the said steering lock also having a casing which is composed of a first casing part which can be fastened to the tubular casing of the steering column and is intended to receive the locking element and the slide and of a second casing part which can be inserted into a through aperture in the motor vehicle dashboard, is tubular in shape and is intended to receive the locking cylinder, the shaft and the cam. The first casing part has a hollow pin which encloses the slide and the second casing part has a lateral eye which overlaps the hollow pin and is rotatably connected to the latter.
