PURPOSE:To obtain the title uniform combined with sweat absorptivity and stainproofness, by treating, with a specific compound, the surface of a polyester fiber modified to specific structure by copolymerization of another specific compound with part of the terminals of a polyester constituted by ethylene terephthalate as the structural unit. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, 1-8wt.% of a polyoxyalkylene glycol of the formula (R<1> is monovalent organic group free from active hydrogen; R<2> is alkylene; n is 20-140) is copolymerized with part of the terminals of a polyester constituted of ethylene terephthalate as the structural unit. Second, the resultant copolyester is spun to produce a modified polyester fiber with a crystallite size on (100) plane 50-100Angstrom , crystallite size on (010) plane 65-170Angstrom , birefringence >=0.15, elongation at break <=40% and tenacity >=4g/d. Thence, the surface of the resultant modified polyester fiber is treated with, e.g., a polyester with a polyalkylene oxide as a copolymer component, thus obtaining the objective uniform combined with seat absorptivity and stainproofness, resistant to washing. This uniform is useful for the food industry, hospitals, etc. |
