<p>Excess coating liquid is removed by directing a gas jet from a nozzle extending laterally across the strip of material, which moves lengthwise past the nozzle. The distance of the mean displacement path of the strip from the nozzle is at least four times the distance through which the dynamic pressure of the core of the gas jet from the nozzle is constant. The gas flow is pref. laminar and the pressure at the nozzle is pref. 0.5-25 psi. Used in dip coating processes, e.g. galvanisation of steel strip by dipping in molten bath.</p> |
