PURPOSE:To make the transient condition at the time of returning to a neutral position favorable by judging the mode of the failure of a control system and returning to the neutral position using a driving means as much as possible while, on the other hand, returning to the neutral position by using a neutral holding means only when necessary. CONSTITUTION:A rear wheel steering mechanism A is energized toward the neutral position by a neutral holding means B, while being displaceable against the neutral holding means B by means of a driving means C. In this case, a connecting/disconnecting means D is provided between the rear wheel steering mechanism A and the driving means C, while providing a braking means E for locking the action of the driving means C. Out of the failures of a rear wheel steering control system, when a judging means F judged to be a first fail mode in which the rear wheel can be controlled to be a neutral position by the driving means C, control is carried out G so as to operate the braking means E after bringing the rear wheel to the neutral position by the driving means C while, on the other hand, when judged to be a second fail mode which is the rest of the first fail mode, control is performed H so as to bring the connecting/disconnecting means D in a disconnected condition. |
