PURPOSE:To minimize the reflection of a pressure wave in a pressure chamber and to continuously stably inject ink by holding the width of an ink supply port in a specific dimensional relation to the width of the chamber. CONSTITUTION:The pressure chamber 1 of an ink jet recording head is composed of a cylindrical glass tube 2. The end of the tube 2 is formed in a conical shape, an orifice 3 is formed at its end, and its rear end is opened by reducing the inner diameter of the tube 2 to a diameter of d/2+ or -30%. The orifice 3 is formed in a circular shape, and a meniscus 8 is formed at this part. When a drive signal of injecting ink is applied once to a piezoelectric element 4, the retreating amount (x) of the meniscus 8 is abruptly reduced, an ink droplet 6 is injected, the meniscus is then largely retreated, and then returned to its original state. Thus, since the retreating peak is only one, the reflection of a pressure wave at the rear end of the chamber can be minimized. |
