PURPOSE:To eliminate hydraulic cylinders for clamping to miniaturize the device in the clamping device for supporting and guiding a rotary table in a machine tool by utilizing a static pressure against the static pressure supporting face instead of clamping by means of pressurized oil. CONSTITUTION:When the pressurized oil is supplied to pressurized oil passages 15a, 15b, the outer peripheral face of a body 5 of rotation, the upper end face of a body 6 of rotation, and the lower side face of a rotary table plate 7 are supported by the pressurized oil in total static pressure pockets 81, 82, 83. When a motor 12 is operated, the table plate 7 is turned through a shaft coupling 14 and a rotary shaft 11, and its amount of rotation is detected by an enchoder 13. Then, when the motor 12 is stopped, a rotary table 9 is positioned in the desired position. After that, when an electromagnetic opening/closing valve 18 is closed, the pressurized oil is supplied to the static pressure pockets 81, 82 through the pressurized oil passage 15a, but not supplied to the static pressure pocket 83. Thus, the body 6 of rotation is depressed without misalignment, the lower face of the table plate 7 is pressed against a supporting member 3, and the table 9 is clamped to a supporting bed plate 2. |
