<p>PURPOSE:To prevent rolling of steering wheel by shortcircuiting the terminals of a steering assist motor upon detection of no steering force. CONSTITUTION:A motor power steering is provided with a means M1 for detecting the existence of steering, nod when steering is detected through the steering detecting means, a motor M2 is driven to perform steering assist. When steering is not detected through the means M1, terminals of the motor M2 are shortcircuited through a shortcircuit control means M3. When the motor M2 is shortcircuited, the motor M2 is constituted as an engine. When the motor M2 is rotated through disturbance applied onto the steering system, the motor M2 functions as a generator for generating current between the shortcircuited terminals. Consequently, the generating resistance of the motor M2 resists against the disturbance thus preventing rolling of the steering wheel.</p> |
