The device makes it possible to couple together, in remotely manipulatable manner, two vertical rotating shafts, the upper shaft 1 being driving, the lower shaft 2 being suspended. It essentially comprises a shaft 6 of smaller diameter, fast with the lower shaft 2 and fitted in the upper shaft, provided with grooves 8 allowing sliding of the shafts 1 and 6 with respect to each other. The invention is more particularly applicable to couplings of shafts of centrifuges incorporating a suspended bowl and in particular those used in a nuclear medium. <IMAGE>
