PURPOSE:To improve the appearance by setting the direction in which virtual tilt angles in the center wavelength of each filter color of color filters are averaged, as the average molecule axial direction of a liquid crystal cell and setting a polarizer, based on said direction as a reference. CONSTITUTION:When values of virtual tilt angles in the center wavelength of spectral transmittivity of color filters R, G and B are averaged, its result becomes -thetaa=6.8 deg.. Therefore, the direction of -thetaa is set to the direction which is inclined by 6.8 deg. against the rubbing direction of an FLC cell. Simultaneously, an analyzer 21 is set to the direction which is shifted by 90 deg. against a polarizer 23. In such constitution, when the light source of a daylight color type whose wavelength characteristic is comparatively continuous is used as a backlight 24, and the appearance of the cell is observed, a satisfactory result can be obtained. |
