1318926 Epoxy resin coating MINNESOTA MINING & MFG CO 27 Nov 1970 [28 Nov 1969] 56447/70 Heading B2E [Also in Division C3] Steel pipes and copper surfaces are coated by dry spraying or by the fluidised bed method with a powdered epoxy resin composition which initially thermosoftens and then gels in <2 mins. at 200‹C, comprising a blend of a diglycidyl ether (I) of a dihydric phenol (m.p. >70‹C) and an adduct (II) of two moles of trimellitic anhydride and one mole of a polyalkylene ether glycol having >15 and up to 40 carbon and oxygen atoms in the skeletal chain between OH groups. The adduct is present so as to provide 2/3-3/2 carboxyl equivalents per epoxide equivalent of I, II may be derived from polyethylene glycol. I may be a diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A. An example relates to the coating of a copper bus bar. |
