PURPOSE:To solve problems on image defects, such as black spots, and to obtain good characteristics of a photosensitive body by incorporating a specified azo compound in a carrier generating layer and forming a carrier blocking layer between a conductive substrate and the carrier generating layer. CONSTITUTION:The carrier generating layer contains at least one of couplers represented by formula I in which Ar<1> is aryl; each of Y and Z is halogen, cyano, or the like; (s) is 0-4; and (r) is 0-2, and as the carrier generating material, the compound having an azo group in the molecule. The carrier blocking layer containing a novolak type phenol resin and titanium oxide subjected to no conductivity enhancing treatment is formed between the conductive substrate and the carrier generating layer, thus permitting a good image free from image defects, such as black spots, to be obtained in reversal development, and high-quality images free from fog and high in image density to be obtained even under environments of high temperature and high humidity, and low temperature and low humidity, and the like. |
