PURPOSE:To reduce the manufacturing cost of a thermal printing head and to make it unnecessary to form a projection on a substrate, by forming a electric conductors on an insulating substrate in opposed relationship so as to be vertical to a heat generating element row and forming a heat generator, which is composed of a substance having resistance higher than that of each of electric conductors, between the electric conductors. CONSTITUTION:Electric conductors 2 are formed on a substrate 1 so as to form grooves 31 by removing a part of the electric conductors 2 in order to separate elements and a part of the electric conductors 2 is removed to form a groove 32 in order to form a heat generator part in the direction vertical to the element row. This groove 32 is made sufficiently larger than each of the grooves 31. Next, a substance 3 having resistance sufficiently larger than that of each electric conductor is applied to the groove 32 and a part of the electric conductors 2 to form a heat generating part, that is, a functional element part 33. As mentioned above, the heat generator 3 is formed between the mutually opposed electric conductors 2 as a thick film having a thickness of 1mum or more, it is unnecessary to form protruding glaze on the insulating substrate 1. |
