A van for transporting general goods (1) is equipped with a tail gate which consists of a rocking platform (2) supported by two forks (3). The rocking platform (2) incorporates weighing equipment which has a reception table (5) on the inner face of the rocking platform (2). The van has a hydraulic system which drives two hydraulic jacks. One of these jacks (4) serves to raise and lower the rocking platform (2) while the other jack (6) rocks it between the horizontal open position and the vertical closed position. Microprocessor controlled strain gauges carry out the weighing, and documentation is produced automatically. The reception table (5) is corrected for variations in the position of the van and rocking platform so that the weighing is always accurate. ADVANTAGE - Transport and weighing operations can be combined, thus saving time and handling costs.
