PURPOSE:To obtain higher compressing effect in a picture in which an area to have the same concentration is distributed broadly and many by partitioning the picture of an object into the rectangular area of the same concentration value. CONSTITUTION:The data of an objective picture given as the continuous array of (n) rows and (m) columns of a picture element to express a concentration with a digital value are stored in an input storing means 101. On the data inside the means 101, an origin setting means 102 sets an origin to catch the continuity of the picture element to have the same concentration value as a unit area. On the origin, a rectangular area setting means 103 extracts the some rectangular areas of the same concentration as the origin, moreover, a comparing extracting means 104 extracts the area of which total compressing effect is the largest among the extracted rectangular areas, and the extracted area is encoded and is stored in a compressing storing means 105. In this case, the output of the means 103 is given to the input, on the one origin, for the rectangular area, the action of extracting is executed as much as possible repeatedly, besides, the content of the means 105 is transmitted to the input of the means 102, and it is repeated until non-processing area is gone. |
