PURPOSE:To improve the wear and surface roughening resistances of a high Cr work roll by casting stock for the roll having a prescribed compsn., holding the outer layer at a prescribed temp. in the subsequent cooling stage and carrying out soln. heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:Stock for a high Cr work roll having an outer layer consisting of, by weight, 1-3.2% C, 0.4-1.5% Si, 0.4-1.5% Mn, <=0.1% P, <=0.1% S, 0.5-2% Ni, 10-25% Cr, 0.2-4% Mo and the balance Fe is cast. In the subsequent cooling stage, the outer layer is held at 750-840 deg.C. The stock is then heated at once to carry out soln. heat treatment and ordinary heat treatment is further carried out. |
