A supercharged internal-combustion engine is described which has an exhaust-gas turbocharger which can be driven mechanically via the crankshaft of said internal-combustion engine and, when required, can be decoupled from this mechanical drive. In order to avoid this coupling device being mechanically and thermally overstressed, it is designed as an eddy-current coupling.
