1354761 Stabilized enzyme compositions HENKEL & CIE GmbH 8 June 1971 [31 July 1970 30 Nov 1970] 19356/71 Heading C3H [Also in Division C5] A stabilized liquid enzyme composition comprises (A) 100-1% by wt. of an enzyme component which is an aqueous solution of (1) proteases and/or amylases in such an amount that the activity of the final composition is 1000-800,000 protease units/ml or 10 to 10,000 SKBE/ml; (2) 1-45% by wt. of at least one water soluble organic compound of type (a)-(d) wherein type (a) may be dito hexahydrydric aliphatic alcohols with not more than 8 carbon atoms per molecule and/or polyethers of these polyhydric alcohols and/or part ethers with monohydric C 1 -C 4 alcohols; type (b) may be carboxylic acid- or phosphoric acid-(alkyl or -hydroxyalkyl-) amides containing 2-8 carbon atoms per molecule or alkyl-substituted ureas in which ureas each alkyl group contains 1-4 carbon atoms or has been wholly or partly replaced by a C 2 -C 4 mono- or dihydroxy alkyl residue; type (c) may be heterocyclic compounds optionally containing hydroxyl groups with not more than 8 carbon atoms in the molecule with a hetero-oxygen and/or hetero-nitrogen atom; type (d) may be dialkylsulphoxides with 1-4 carbon atoms in each of the alkyl radicals: (3) 1-30% by weight of one of the water soluble organic compounds (e) to (g) wherein type (e) may be polyfunctional aliphatic or alicyclic amines with not more than 8 carbon atoms per hydrocarbon residue, which contain as further functional groups at least one further basic nitrogen and/or hydroxyl group optionally etherified with a C 1 -C 4 alcohol; type (f) may be compounds with hetrocyclic nitrogen or heterocyclic oxygen atoms containing not more than 8 carbon atoms in the molecule and optionally containing hydroxyalkyl groups; type (g) may be carboxylic acid or phosphoric acid alkyl or hydroxy alkyl amides containing 2-8 carbon atoms in the molecule or alkyl-substituted ureas in which ureas each alkyl group contains 1-4 carbon atoms or has been wholly or partly replaced by a C 2 -C 4 mono- or dihydroxy residue; with the proviso that a compound of group 2b can only be combined with a compound of groups 3e or 3f and a compound of group 2c can only be combined with a compound of groups 3e or 3g; (4) 0-30% by weight of a carboxylic acid or hydroxycarboxylic acid with not more than 6 carbon atoms or other acid reacting substance or a water soluble salt of these acids with organic or inorganic cations; (B) 0-99% by weight of other customary ingredients of washing and cleaning compositions, the compositions having a pH of 3-10.
