PURPOSE:To control the occurrence of clogging with paper and achieve smooth paper feed when new paper is set to a platen by installing a paper detection sensor on a carrier and moving the carrier to the center of a detected paper width. CONSTITUTION:If paper 7 is inserted into a paper insertion port by a manual or automatic paper feed mechanism and the tip of the paper is detected by a paper insertion detection sensor 10, a platen 2 rotates to allow the tip of the paper 7 to pass a fixed paper guide 3, and the paper is fed to a position where a paper detection sensor 11 is installed. In this state, a carrier 6 scans from one end of the platen 2 to the other, and during this scanning process, the left end position B1 and right end position B2 of the paper 7 are detected by the paper detection sensor 11. Then the center position X of the paper 7 is calculated based on each detection value B1, B2 and the carrier 6 moves to the center position X. After this, the paper 7 is fed into between a printing head 8 and the peripheral surface of the platen 2. |
