A flame-retarded resin is prepd. by copolymg. a synthetic resin compsn. with (I) to contain 500-50,000 ppm of P atoms in the prod.. In the formula, R1 and R2=same or not, C1-10 halohydrocarbons, may be selected from R3 and R4; R3 and R4=same or not, hydroxy alkyl or carbox alkyl; A=C0-10 alkylene or phenylene; n1 and n2=0-4 integer. The product showed a good flame retardation with stability to heat.
