PURPOSE:To obtain a dense Y-Ba-Cu-O type oxide superconducting sintered body enabling the production of a superconducting coil and useful as a board, element, etc., of a high-speed computer by forming a Y2O3 or Y film by vapor deposition on the surface of a sintered body consisting of BaO and CuO in a prescribed molar ratio and by heating the sintered body in an oxidizing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:BaCO3 or the like is mixed with CuO in a desired ratio such as 2/3 molar ratio of BaO/CuO and the mixture is heated, e.g., to about 900 deg.C to obtain a BaO-CuO mixed sintered body. A dense film of a third component such as Y2O3 or Y is formed by vapor deposition on the surface of the sintered body and this sintered body is heated at 800-900 deg.C in an oxidizing atmosphere for >=6hr. |
