<p>Process for the preparation of aryl metaborates which comprises a stage of dehydration of boric acid to metaboric acid with azeotropic distillation of the water formed and then a stage of esterification of the metaboric acid, and its application to the preparation of ortho-hydroxybenzyl alcohols by condensation of the aryl metaborates with formaldehyde or a formaldehyde generator. It is very particularly suitable for the preparation of saligenol.</p> |
