<p>Omega phenyl, omega-(sulphinyl or sulphonyl) alkanoic acids of formula (I) and their salts are new: (where q = 1 or 2; R1 = A and R2 = H, Br, Cl, Me, CF3, OH, 1-4C alkoxy or NO2; or R1 = H and R2 = A; A = 8-13C alkyl, 7-12C alkoxy, 10-10C-1-alkynyl, 10-undecynyloxy, 11-dodecynyl, phenyl-4-10Calkyl, phenyl-3-9C alkoxy (opt. ring substd. by one of Br, Cl, CF3, 1-4C alkoxy, methylthio or trifluoromethylthio), furyl-4-10C alkyl, trifluoromethyl-7-12C-alkyl or cyclohexyl-4-10C alkyl; Y = COR3, CH(R4)(CH2)mCOR3, or (CH2)n; -C-tetrazolyl; n' = 0 or 1; R3 = OH or NH2; R4 = H, Me 1-4C alkoxy, F or OH; m = 0-2; R = (CH2)nCH(R5)COR6, CH(CO2H)CH2CO2, CH2CH22 or a gp. of formula (i) (where n = 0-6; R5 = H, NH2 or NHCOCH2CH2CH(NH2)CO2H; R6 = OH, NH2 or NHCH2CO2H; Z = SO3H, SO2NH2 or CN; R7 = H, 1-4C alkyl or 3-4C alkenyl; R8 = H, 1-4C alkyl, carboxy, carboxamido or (CH2)pCO2H; P = 1 or 2; R9 = H, 1-4C alkyl or CH2CO2H provided that (i) when R8 = (CH2)pCO2H then R7 and R9 are H or 1-4C alkyl; (ii) when n = 0 then R5 = H; and (iii) R7, R8 and R9 are not all H.) (c) Also claimed is a compsn. for inhibiting antigen-induced respiratory anaphylaxis comprising (I) with the definitions from (A) and a histamine H1-receptor antagonist in a carrier or diluent.</p> |
