<p>Compact appts. for continuously effecting a reaction between cocurrently flowing gas (I) and liq. (II) reactants to give a fluid prod. comprises the following in series: (a) pressurised, fluid-energised, in-line cocurrent flow mixing device having separate inlets for (I) and (II) flows near the inlet end, and an outlet to discharge the resulting (I)/(II) mixt.; (b) an enclosed, regenerative turbine pump (with at least 1 mechanically driven multi-varied impellor associated with close fitting stator elements) to pump the (I)/(II) mixt. to an outlet while increasing its pressure by at least 1 atmos.; (c) a fluid-carrying conduit between the mixing device (a) and pump (b); and (d) an enclosed, super-atmos., pressure-tight prod.-receiving tank (having pressure and liq. level controls to keep a desired super-atmos. pressure and a substantial gas head space) which has an inlet in the side wall connected by conduit to the pump (b), and which is equipped with fluid recycle conduits connecting a gas head space and a low liq. holding space with the (I) and (II) supplies for the cocurrent flow mixing device (a).</p> |
