PURPOSE:To enable a platemaking operation to be speedily carried out, by providing a cross-rule pattern indicating surface on one side of a transparent or semitransparent thin sheet, coating another transparent or semitransparent thin sheet on the sheet to obtain a composite sheet, and treating the outer surface of the composite sheet to permit easy removal of a pressure sensitive adhesive therefrom. CONSTITUTION:A cross-rule pattern indicating surface 2 is provided on one side of a transparent or semitransparent thin sheet 1, with vertical and horizontal rules being indicated alternately in red 2a and blue 2b. The cross-rule indicating surface 2 is covered with another transparent or semitransparent thin sheet 3. A surface part of the sheet 1 is treated with a silicone resin or the like to permit easy removal of a pressure sensitive adhesive therefrom. A composite sheet 5 thus obtained is a platemaking material. A pressure sensitive adhesive double coated tape 7 is adhered to a lower surface part of a relief printing plate 6, and the composite sheet 5 adhered to the printing plate 6 through the tape 7 is precisely placed on a mount paper 8 by adjusting the vertical and horizontal rules 2a, 2b on vertical and horizontal reference lines 10, 10 on the mount paper 8. An end part 6' is pressed to be adhered to the mount paper 8, the composite sheet 5 is drawn out, and the printing plate 6 is pressed to be wholly adhered to the mount paper 8, thereby making a plate. |
