INHALATION METHOD AND SYSTEM

A method and system for administering a drug by inhalation. The system includes liposomes containing the drug in entrapped form and formulated to produce a selected in vitro rate of drug release. The liposomes are administered in an aerosol whose particle sizes are less than about 10 microns. The method of the invention is used to moderate initial and long-term drug levels at the site of deposition in the respiratory tract or in the bloodstream.
