PURPOSE:To produce the title resin which is excellent in optical transmission, prevention of initial coloring, impact resistance, weathering resistance and machinability, and can be used for producing lenses, by copolymerizing a specific dimethacrylate with a specific (meth)acrylate. CONSTITUTION:The title resin is produced by copolymerizing a first monomer of dimethacrylate of the formula (wherein A is ethylene or propylene; m and n are each 0, 1 or 2; X is Cl or Br; and a is 0, 1-4) {e.g., 2,2-bis[3,5- dibromo-4-(2-methacryloyloxyethoxy)phenyl]propane} with a second monomer of a (meth)acrylate free from an aromatic group (e.g., glycidyl methacrylate). Since the resin is excellent in optical transmission, prevention of initial coloring, impact resistance, weathering resistance and machinability, it can be advanta geously used as substitute for inorganic glasses for producing lenses. |
