<p>The invention refers to optoelectronic reflection-operated switches, and may find general application in domestic and industrial electrical circuits and particularly is suited for controlling brightness or timing of household lights and equipment. An optical transceiver assembly (20) transmits radiation and is activated when said radiation is reflected by a human member or other external object to generate a response. The reflected radiation is analysed by a circuit (157, 167, 169) to detect a predetermined parameter of the activating member or object such as position, distance, speed, dwelling-time, number of consecutive repetitive strikes, or a combination thereof. The analysed parameter is used by an output circuit (159) to determine a response parameter such as output signal intensity, time or selection according to a predetermined function. The invention further includes a remote-control arrangement (20, 300) virtually free from extraneous reflections in the vecinity of the assembly.</p> |
