PURPOSE:To improve dimensional accuracy by having a stage for extruding a thermoplastic resin to the outside circumference of an adhesive medium layer to obtain a primary fiber provided with a covering layer for forming a spacer body. CONSTITUTION:Tension wires 2 consisting of steel wires wound on drums 1 are inserted into the head part of a melt extruder 3 and are covered by adhesive polyethylene to provide the adhesive medium layer A; in succession, two pieces of such covered tension wires 2 are respectively passed through a shaping machine 4 and are shaped to 2.5mm outside diameter under heating and are taken off as the covered tension wire 5 by a take-off 6. Two pieces of the covered tension wires 5, 5 are in succession passed through a guide nipple by setting the spacing between the centers of the tension wires 5 and 5 at 4mm in order to apply the resin covering for forming the spacer body thereon. High-density polyethylene is then extrusion-covered onto the tension wires from an extruder 7 to provide the covering layer B. The covered wires extruded from the extruder 7 are immediately introduced into a sizing device and is cooled to solidify, by which the primary fiber 9 for the spacer is obtd. The outside diameter and the dimensional accuracy of the grooves are thereby extremely improved. |
