The oven is for firing ceramic items such as slabs, and comprises a series of successive treatment zones connected together by a transport system. This rapidly transfers the work between the zones, the heat being exchanged by radiation between their walls and the work. - Transport can be by a large number of parallel driven rollers (7) forming a track surface (6), above and below which radiation surfaces are mounted. These can be formed by successive plates (13) of material with a high heat conductivity and coefficient of emission.
