The electronic device according to the invention includes control circuit units or control circuit modules associated with the compact disc or tape readers employed and is intended for the automatic compilation of continuous music programmes. The change of state of one of the modules is caused by stopping the reading information delivered by the reader to which it is connected, by identifying in particular the generation by this same module of three signals, namely a stop signal intended for switching the reader to which it is connected into stop or pause mode, a start signal intended for starting the following reader and a signal controlling compact disc skip track advance or the respooling of cassettes or tapes. <IMAGE>
