An electro-hydraulic, proportionally working pressure relief valve (10) of seat valve construction is proposed, which can control two different pressure adjustment ranges. A relatively long cone (46) of a closing member (43) is assigned two valve seats (33, 38) which are of different size, arranged at a spacing from one another and enclose between them a second pressure space (39) which, via a switching valve (14), can be connected alternatively to the inlet (23) or the tank connection (25) so that diameters of different size can be effective at the cone (46). For pressure adjustment in the high-pressure and low-pressure range, the pressure relief valve (10) uses the same positionally-controlled adjusting drive (15) and, for switching over between the ranges, an inexpensive switching magnet (14). <IMAGE>
