An external artificial member, in particular a leg prosthesis, has a femoral component (1), a tibial component (2) with housing (3) for a knee-joint mechanism and an aligning coupling (4). The lower end (8) of the femoral component is convex and the upper end of the housing (3) for the knee-joint mechanism is likewise convex. The adjacent upper and lower sides of the aligning coupling (4) are correspondingly concave. A connecting device (5) engages with a bolt through openings (9A, 4A and 8A) in order to connect the parts together adjustably. The invention allows considerable variations in alignment and adjustment whilst, at the same time, the space occupied by the aligning coupling (4) in the vertical direction is kept to a minimum. <IMAGE>
