PURPOSE:To increase the superconductivity transition temp. of a Y-Ba-Cu-O type oxide superconductor and to improve the reproducibility and stability by substituting Sn for part of the Ba in the superconductor. CONSTITUTION:This superconductor is composed of yttrium, barium, tin, copper and oxygen and has a structural formula Y(Ba1-xSnx)2Cu3Oy (where x=0.05-0.25 and y=6.0-7.5). The superconductor can be produced by a sintering method with known powdery starting materials. Light-yellow SnO2 powder may be used as starting material for tin. |
