A solid fuel heater with a tilted U shaped heat exchanger comprises a lower part (2) of pipes (3) laid together on which solid fuel is burnt and an upper part (5) of pipes (6) joined by a standing heat exchanger (4) double walled with thus a hollow space. The fire is enclosed by steel plates (10) and glass plates (8,11) one with handgrip (12) for opening for refuelling. The pipes (6) connect to a blow in chamber (13) with a space (14) for the insertion of a plug in fan unit (15) with a self cooled electric fan (16) for the heater (1).
