Fig. 1 shows a series-produced motor vehicle (2) whose rear axle (3) is driven by an internal combustion engine. A single-axle vehicle trailer (6) which serves as pushing vehicle or towing vehicle is coupled to the motor vehicle (2), the axle (7) of the said trailer (6) being made to rotate by an electric motor (9) via a differential gearing (8). Accumulators (10) which are also located on the trailer (6) serve here as current source for the electric motor (9). The motor vehicle (2) can thus be optionally driven by the internal combustion engine and/or by the electric motor (9).
